Improving the characteristics of Honda SRV 3. Honda CR-V III - the return of a legend to sports

The Honda CR-V, presented at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, became one of the first representatives of the “crossover” class, although at that time this name was not yet used. In October of the same year, the new product appeared in Japanese car dealerships, and in 1997 its sales began in America, Europe and Russia. Due to increased demand in 2000, production of the Honda CR-V for the European market was organized at a plant in the UK.

When creating the crossover, components and assemblies of the fifth generation model were used. The only engine is a two-liter with a capacity of 129–130 hp. pp., it was paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The Honda CR-V had two versions: with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, but only all-wheel drive vehicles were supplied to Russia.

In 1999, the model was slightly restyled (only the shape of the bumpers changed), and the engine power increased to 140 hp. With. (performed for the Japanese market - up to 150 horsepower). The production of the first generation Honda CR-V ended in 2001.

2nd generation, 2001–2006

The second generation Honda CR-V, which debuted in 2001, has increased in size and become heavier, and the suspension designs have changed. In addition to the previous 2.0 engine (150 hp), the car received a new 2.4-liter engine with a power of 160 hp. pp., such cars were equipped only with automatic transmissions and were sold in Japan and America. A turbodiesel version of the crossover was prepared especially for the European market in 2005, equipped with a 2.2-liter power unit developing 140 hp. With.

In Russia, the “second” Honda CR-V was available only with a two-liter engine, all-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission.

3rd generation, 2006–2011

In 2006, the next generation of the model debuted. The car became a little shorter and lower, lost the “spare wheel” on the rear door, and its choice of options expanded.

In Russia, the “basic” Honda CR-V was offered with a two-liter engine producing 150 hp. With. paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic. Cars equipped with a 2.4-liter engine (166 hp) were equipped only with automatic transmissions. We were supplied with all-wheel drive crossovers produced at a plant in the UK.

In Europe, cars were sold with a two-liter gasoline engine or a 2.2 i-CTDi turbodiesel with a capacity of 140 horsepower. In the American market, the Honda CR-V had only one version - with a 2.4-liter engine. The drive could be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

As a result of the 2010 restyling, the front design of the car barely changed, and on European cars a new i-DTEC diesel engine of the same volume appeared, developing 150 hp. With. In total, approximately 2.5 million cars were produced until 2012.

Why do people in our country love SUVs? For a brutal appearance that guarantees respect on the road. For high ground clearance and all-wheel drive, allowing you to drive where others would give up. For a high seating position that improves visibility. For a spacious interior, adapted to the needs of the whole family. Compact SUVs have all these qualities. Only in reduced format.

Secondary market November 18, 2008 Compact crossovers from Japan (Toyota RAV 4, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Outlander) were created according to the Russian recipe.

“Asphalt” SUVs, or crossovers, combining fairly large dimensions and high ground clearance with almost car-like handling, are very popular in Russia, where, given the known quality of our roads, they came in handy. There are many such models on the domestic “Second-hand” market. Some of the most common in the compact segment are the Japanese “Toyota RAV4” of the second generation (2003-2006) and the “Honda CR-V” of the second generation, produced from 2002 to 2006 (with intermediate restyling in 2004), and also “Mitsubishi Outlander”, which was on the assembly line in 2002-2007. All of these cars have five-door monocoque bodies, and the Toyota range also included the short-wheelbase three-door RAV4. All of them were equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission (however, there are modifications with only front-wheel drive), have decent ground clearance and completely independent suspensions on all wheels. Under the hood, all three crossovers had only four-cylinder gasoline engines paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission.

American approach (CR-V 2.4 l.) Test Drive

The Honda CR-V with a 2.4 liter engine appeared on the Russian market. Previously, such an engine was installed on the American version of the car.

On the roads and not only (Toyota RAV 4, Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail (02-04)) Secondary market

It's no secret that SUV owners rarely use their vehicles for their intended purpose. Most people prefer to drive on paved roads. “Asphalt” jeeps were invented for them, combining moderate cross-country ability with the handling of a passenger model. So in the mid-90s, the first “asphalt” SUVs appeared, which later began to be called crossovers (that is, located at the “crossroads” of classes). The pioneers in this area were the Japanese Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. And at the beginning of the 21st century, the Nissan X-Trail joined them. These three models are still the most common in their class on the Russian secondary market. Our review includes the second generation Toyota RAV4, produced from 2000 until restyling in 2003, the second generation Honda CR-V, produced in 2002-2004, and the Nissan X-Trail, which rolled off the assembly line from 2001 to the first facelift in 2004. They have strong load-bearing bodies, all-wheel drive transmission (there are also modifications with only front-wheel drive), decent ground clearance and completely independent suspensions on all wheels. In terms of reliability, they are not inferior to “serious” jeeps, and in some ways they are superior to them.

The Honda CR-V III is not sold at official Honda dealerships.

Reviews from Honda CR-V III owners

Honda CR-V III, 2009

I purchased a Honda CR-V III from an official dealer. I noticed a trend - while you are walking around and choosing a car, managers are hovering around you. When you have already bought and completed the paperwork, the attitude changes to indifference. But the essence is not important - what is important is that the car is good, despite all the conflicting reviews. Reliability is at the level, the exterior design is now fashionable (there are similar models on Audi and Chevrolet jeeps). Previously, I drove a Hyundai Solaris and a Chevrolet Lacetti. The first car as a whole requires improvements, there are many childhood diseases. The second, on the contrary, is well developed, but an update would be welcome. I decided to change the car to a more passable one. I decided on the Honda CR-V III based on many criteria - reliability, service at the dealership, test drive results. In winter, the car consumes 13-14 liters of fuel in the urban cycle (2-liter engine and automatic transmission).

The climate control is almost always turned on (I am generally very pleased with its performance; it heats and cools the interior very clearly and quickly). The six-speed automatic transmission works smoothly; it switches gears perfectly for my calm driving style, but it doesn’t let me down when I need to push it. Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the following: a weak battery that cannot be replaced with a more powerful one, otherwise you risk voiding the warranty. The brake pads whistle in cold weather, in principle this does not interfere, but for such a car it is somehow not serious. The ground clearance of the Honda CR-V III is fine; it’s just right around the city in winter, but it’s not intended for off-road use. But a heated steering wheel and more climate control functions would be nice.

Advantages : climate control. Ground clearance. Comfort.

Flaws : weak battery from factory. The pads are whistling.

Honda CR-V III, 2010

So, I'll start with what I liked about the Honda CR-V III. Exterior design. To evaluate the design, in principle, it is not necessary to purchase a car - and so everything is visible. I will only note that other road users treat this car with more respect than the Skoda Yeti. I mean that the Honda CR-V III is noticeably more willing to be allowed into their lane when changing lanes. I'm not flaunting this, I'm just sharing my impressions. Salon. Nice, ergonomic, comfortable, spacious. The rear passengers, in my opinion, are especially comfortable - this is facilitated by the rather far reclining backrests and the absence of a central “tunnel”. The trunk, in my opinion, is one of the most spacious in the class. The transformation of the rear row of seats also does not cause any complaints.

Now about the relative disappointments: very sluggish dynamics. The car performs any vigorous acceleration extremely reluctantly. At least some pickup in the Honda CR-V III appears somewhere around four thousand rpm. If the car is moving steadily along a slight rise at a speed of around 60 km/h, then in order to accelerate you will have to push the gas to the floor. Those. literally, until you push it to kick-down, the speedometer needle will not move at all. Partly this point can be attributed to the outdated gearbox with only five gears and lacking a sports mode. Vibrations. At idle, vibration is noticeable on the body and on the steering wheel (for example, on a diesel Ford Kuga there is no vibration on the steering wheel). When the selector is moved from “R” or “D” to “P,” a slight short-term drop in idle occurs, accompanied by an even greater level of vibration. Soundproofing. When purchasing the Honda CR-V III, additional noise was ordered for the wheel arches and part of the floor, so I cannot evaluate the level of factory sound insulation in these areas - at least after the additional noise, road noise does not bother me. But I was extremely unhappy with the roof. When it rains, the drumming is unforgivably loud.

Advantages : comfort and ergonomics. Capacity.

Flaws : sluggish dynamics. Noise insulation.

Honda CR-V III, 2011

The car was purchased in July 2011 with a real mileage of 17 thousand km and in almost new condition. Among the shortcomings are scratches on the plastic inside, small scratches on the threshold, a broken “fastener” of the front bumper and a crack on the windshield. In six months, the Honda CR-V III covered 23 thousand km, 2 maintenance were done after 10 thousand. km of operation and all pads and windshield were replaced. There are no problems or comments regarding the suspension when used in difficult road conditions. I don’t know about anyone, but the engine power is enough for me. Honda CR-V III is not a sports car, but a city family car with the ability to go outdoors. Comfortable speed is 100-120 km/h. When overtaking up to 140 it’s normal, above it it’s a bit difficult. On the ring road I accelerated to 160 km/h, there is still a small margin, but just a small one. In terms of fuel consumption: in my driving mode in the summer it turns out to be 9-10.5 l/100 km, on the highway at a “cruise” of 90 km/h it showed 8.2 l/100 km. In winter, consumption is significantly higher. When overboard to “-15” the consumption is about 12.5 l/100 km, at lower temperatures 14-15 l/100 km.

Handling of the Honda CR-V III is “4+”. Although I compare it with an electric booster with distributed force. The steering wheel is responsive, predictable, incl. in the mud and at speed. Although the rut makes you watch your hands more carefully. Soundproofing suits me. Although I would strengthen it in the front, since it’s annoying on gravel roads. Visibility is not bad, I personally noticed a “blind” spot on the right, regardless of the mirror adjustment. The trunk volume is very decent. The disadvantages of the Honda CR-V III would be that the seats do not fold completely into a flat floor. I would also like to note the correct operation of the climate control and the quick heating of the interior in cold weather. Overall an excellent comfortable car for the money.

Advantages : four-wheel drive. Economy and pickup. Good quality paintwork.

Flaws : low beam. Lack of heating of washer nozzles. The rear calipers become sour if the car is not used.

Honda CR-V III, 2008

So, about the new car. The electric adjustment of the driver's seat and the anatomy of the seat after Toyota's Honda CR-V III seemed more comfortable. This is my first car with a leather interior, or rather leatherette. The automatic transmission selector knob is located on the dashboard, as on the Matrix - this factor also contributed to the choice of the Honda CR-V III, I found it convenient. The separate climate is just a fairy tale. The doors close silently, without any effort. The informative instrument panel displays all the necessary information - from tire pressure to the unrestrained passenger in the rear seat. The instrument lighting is very attractive. The suspension is moderately soft and elastic. Tram tracks can be overcome without difficulty and without any special load on the suspension. R18 wheels also make it easy to overcome obstacles. The engine is 2.4 liters, consumes 92 gasoline. This factor also contributed to the choice of car. About appetite for 100 km: highway 8-9l, city 14-16l. I recently experimented with the 95 - I drove a couple of tanks with a consumption of 12-13 liters in the city. What I noticed was that the engine response noticeably increased, the response to the pedal became softer and more intense at the same time. The operation algorithms of the Honda automatic transmission differ from the gearboxes I have previously tried in that when the gas is released, the pickup in low gear does not occur so intensely, i.e. Engine braking is not as pronounced. I had read about this feature of Honda boxes earlier and was ready for it. The power of the Honda CR-V III engine is enough to move around the city in the speed range up to 2.0-2.3 thousand, keeping up with the main flow. After I switched to a Honda, I noticed that I began to like the quiet ride “like a pensioner” even more. Probably, a more massive car forces a measured ride. I note that when you want to drive, Honda can instantly change its character and rush up to 180 km/h with gear changes at 5-6 thousand engine speeds. I experimented with driving on ice - when the stability control system is turned on, you can feel how the electronics are strangling the engine and it’s difficult to throw the car into a skid. Fortunately, there is a mode to disable the stability system - driving becomes more interesting, because All-wheel drive allows you to pull the car in a long sideways skid.

Advantages : engine and suspension operation. Convenience of the salon. Clearance.

Flaws : consumption in the city.

Honda CR-V III, 2008

In general, we bought a Honda CR-V III, and immediately went with friends to the sea to test the car, and eat crab for company. First impressions on the highway - the car behaves confidently and holds the road perfectly. The engine pulls great, with the cabin fully loaded, it accelerated to 140 km/h, I didn’t even notice, although I usually don’t drive more than 100 km/h. As for the appearance of the car, of course everyone has their own opinion. In my opinion, the CR-V is a beauty. Sleek lines, large wheel arches, expressive headlights. The Japanese did their best. I was also pleased with the interior. The interior is large, the driver's seat is easily adjustable, and three adults can comfortably sit in the back. The rear seats have a forward-backward travel of 15 cm. The backs of the rear seats can be reclined. On a long journey, the rear passengers will thank the manufacturer for this. The multimedia system copes with a bang, the sound is not bad, the built-in subwoofer under the passenger seat creates good vibration. As for fuel consumption. I've only measured it on the highway so far. The measurement is the most elementary in my opinion. I filled the tank full to the cut-off point, drove 100 km and filled the tank full again. The result was 9 liters per 100 kilometers. As a result, my opinion for the first month of owning the car is that I am very pleased, we will see later.

Advantages : reliable chain motor. Good old machine gun. Eye-catching appearance. Excellent handling. Comfort in the cabin.

Flaws : fuel consumption (the manufacturer claims 13 liters in city mode, which means taking into account wear and tear it will be at least 14 liters). Far from the best leather in the cabin. Ground clearance is too small

Honda CR-V III, 2010

I got the Honda CR-V III after the Toyota Hiace and Pajero (when changing from right-hand drive to left-hand drive), I had to get used to the stiff suspension, in general the car is very reliable, playful, and maneuverable. I was surprised by the efficiency, on the highway over long distances the consumption is on average about 8 l/100 km, the transmission does not fail. After Mitsubishi and Toyota, the quality of interior trim and sound insulation leave much to be desired, but this is not critical. Among the minuses is the “house” of the rear wheels, it doesn’t look very good, although it doesn’t particularly affect the operation, another minus is the weak battery (discharges quickly if used for multimedia with the engine not running, requires periodic recharging). There is no point in installing a more powerful one, the generator will only recharge it, the generator will always be undercharged and the generator will be under increased load. The standard interior floor mats are blotter-type and wipe clean almost immediately (the heel of the driver’s right foot). Operation in winter conditions has shown that when using a car blanket, a thermal case for the battery and a covered radiator grill, the savings when warming up are up to 2 l/100 km, i.e. These accessories pay for themselves very quickly, warming up time in the cold is reduced to almost 5-7 minutes. Excellent light and visibility. I was looking for a Japanese assembly, brought it from Korea, when compared with similar English and American ones, it turned out that there were differences, both in the interior and in the characteristics. For example, power 170 hp. versus 166, the turning radius is smaller, fuel consumption is lower, heated seats work without a key and a passenger, which is important for remote start in winter. I liked the manufacturer’s idea with a reserve canister for the fuel system; if you fill it slowly, it adds up to 15 liters, which gives a range of up to 850 km on the tank over long distances, I tested it on the Khabarovsk-Yalta route. Requires timely maintenance and compliance with the manufacturer's requirements for original consumables and replacement intervals. It’s a good car, I haven’t found any major flaws in 3 years, I recommend it.

Advantages : reliability. Patency. Economical.

Flaws : sound insulation and interior quality.

Honda CR-V III, 2008

I don’t want to scare future Honda drivers, but a month later the on-board computer began to malfunction and began to show strange signs and numbers. After talking with an electrician and learning that the display board was “glitchy” in response to temperature changes, I realized that I would have to endure it, since the replacement cost about 50 thousand rubles. And everything was great, if you don’t pay attention to the lack of information about gasoline consumption, temperatures, etc., but with the arrival of warmth, the display began to work. Then, having changed the Honda CR-V III to summer tires, I heard such a hum that at first I thought that the gearbox was “howling,” but after talking with the vulcanization workers, I realized that the problem was in the rubber and very poor sound insulation. As it turns out, all Honda CR-V IIIs suffer from noise in the cabin. If you want a crossover, put up with the noise (there was an Accord from 2006, so there is something to compare with). A big plus is that it has a good wide interior, I have a family of 5 people - 3 adults and 2 children, for long trips, we fit in without any problems and drive comfortably, definitely a family car. Right away, the fly in the ointment, overtaking on the highway is the pain and suffering of the engine (roaring, screaming, crying of the driver), the feeling that you are on a rocket and this is only at 130 km while overtaking. If you like to go for a fast ride and leave everyone behind, then this car is not for you. This is a car with a measured driving style. Summing up the operation of this Honda model, I will say the following - this is definitely a family car with a moderately stiff suspension, a far from spirited engine, but with an attractive, high-quality interior, and a relatively large trunk. I have passed 60,000 thousand and, apart from minor faults, I am generally satisfied with the car. If you decide to purchase this car, then look more at the condition of the interior, since the chassis is really strong and designed for our Russian roads!

Advantages : good wide interior. Moderately stiff suspension.

Flaws : sound insulation. There were minor glitches.

Honda CR-V is a mid-size crossover, one of the closest competitors to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota RAV4. Production of the model began in 1995. The abbreviation CR-V in the car's name stands for “compact recreational vehicle.” The car fits perfectly into this concept - it has sufficient off-road capabilities, as well as car-like handling, a spacious interior and advanced equipment. The Honda CR-V for international markets is produced in the UK, Japan, Mexico and China. At the moment, the CR-V model is officially presented in the USA, Canada, as well as in Russia and the European Union. In addition, the machine is very popular in Malaysia, Indonesia and Latin America. The fifth generation Honda CR-V is currently being produced, which debuted in 2016.

Honda CR-V owner reviews

Generation 1

Manual transmission (Mechanics)

  • Nikolay, Tomsk. I was given a car for my birthday. I hinted to my relatives that I wanted a supported Japanese man, but not the same... So they threw their finger into the sky, but I’m also to blame, I shouldn’t have said it. In general, for now I’m riding a Honda CR-V. The car is supported, with mileage of 150 thousand. Eats 12 liters of fuel, under the hood is a 2.0 engine and a manual transmission. I'll give it back to my parents when I get enough for the RAV-4.
  • Anna, Lipetsk. The Honda CR-V is a great beginner's car. A classic crossover with front-wheel drive, 2.0 engine and manual transmission. Fuel consumption is 10-12 liters.
  • Oleg, Nizhny Novgorod region, 2.0. I bought one for myself in 2015. A supported Japanese car from 1995 turned out to be in good condition. According to the previous owner, the car was brought to us in Russia in the mid-1990s. The car was already used, right-hand drive, of course. With a 2.0 petrol engine and a manual gearbox, fuel consumption averages 13 liters per hundred kilometers. The SUV is equipped with all-wheel drive. Now there are about 300 thousand kilometers on the odometer, I’m surprised how this Honda is still alive. This is what Japanese quality is - I was convinced once again.
  • Maxim, Stavropol region. A car with a two-liter engine and manual transmission. I chose a Honda CR-V on the secondary market and got a copy with a mileage of 100 thousand km. The technical condition left much to be desired, so I decided to undergo a major overhaul. I completely replaced the suspension - shock absorbers, bushings, levers, silent blocks - all of this was replaced. I slightly transformed the interior - changed the seats to leather ones, with improved lateral support. The 2-liter gasoline engine with a power of 130 horsepower remains the same, but it has undergone a small chip tuning, now it produces 150 horsepower. Fuel consumption used to be 12 liters, but has increased to 13-14 liters per hundred kilometers. I liked the car. I’m planning to buy something else soon for my Japanese girlfriend.
  • Konstantin, Ekaterinoslavl. Honda CR-V is a car with character. Despite the outdated design, the car still makes me and my family happy. It’s easy to drive, I even let children steer it on a closed training ground. With a 2.0 engine and manual gearbox, fuel consumption is about 12 liters per hundred.

Automatic transmission (Automatic)

  • Kirill, Perm. I bought a Honda CR-V with an automatic transmission. First generation car, supported of course. We didn’t sell such new cars then. This Honda has a glorious history - surprisingly, it has a left-hand drive, which means it came to Russia from Europe. According to rumors, it is already in used condition. Then there were three Russian owners, who drove a total of 300 thousand km on it. It turns out that I am at least the fourth owner of a 1997 Honda CR-V, with a red body. This is the top version, since it has an automatic machine. Fuel consumption is 12-14 liters per hundred.
  • Alexander, St. Petersburg. I have a first generation Honda CR-V, I decided to save money on a Japanese one and find out what Japanese quality of the 1990s is. The car turned out to be normal and was received in good condition. Consumption with automatic transmission and 2.0 engine is about 12-13 liters.
  • Konstantin, Vorkuta. Overall I liked the car, where else can you find a crossover in such good condition. Of course, we had to look among the Japanese, namely the Honda model range. The CR-V is generally a popular car in our country, so we chose it. The rear interior is cramped, the materials are simple. It's a budget car, there aren't enough stars in the sky. It's like regular transport for moving around the city. Although under the hood is not the weakest 2-liter engine, producing about 130 horsepower. Fuel consumption with an automatic transmission is about 13 liters per hundred.
  • Vladimir, Ekaterinoslavl. My Honda CR-V is a versatile car, although it is more suitable for the city than the highway. It has a rather weak 130-horsepower 2-liter engine. Everything is spoiled by the automatic transmission, which often stutters on the highway and does not allow normal acceleration; because of it, consumption increases. Things are better in the city. Comfortable, with a practical interior and soft suspension. Consumption is 12-14 liters per hundred km.
  • Lyudmila, Nizhny Novgorod region. Such cars are rare in our city, so I took them to stand out from the rest. An original car, with its own shortcomings and advantages. With an automatic transmission, a dynamic and comfortable car. The two-liter engine produces 130 horsepower, which is enough. Consumption 12 liters.

Generation 2

Engine 2.0

  • Vitaly, Yekaterinburg. The crossover is worth the money. The Honda CR-V is the epitome of style and reliability, but not luxury. A simple interior, high-quality materials, and the body design does not evoke any emotions. Almost like a conservative German. The car is equipped with a 2.0 engine and an automatic transmission. In the city it consumes 13 liters.
  • Margarita, Peter. This car has everything I like. Dynamic engine, efficient automatic transmission, all the options. Fuel consumption is on average 12 liters.
  • Svyatoslav, Vologda region. The car was produced in 2002, bought at a car dealership, with a guarantee, with all options. I have the top version with this engine. There is an automatic transmission, and the two-liter engine produces 150 horsepower. The car has all-wheel drive, fuel consumption is 12-13 liters per 100 km. The car is comfortable in the cabin, with decent sound insulation in the engine compartment. The interior is assembled with high quality, but the plastics are frankly cheap and hard. Sometimes I let my wife drive, and after the CR-V she began to love SUVs, now she wants a Chevrolet Tahoe...
  • Igor, St. Petersburg. I bought a 2004 Honda CR-V and still drive it. A reliable car that pampers you with its comfort. It has become like family, all the spare parts are original, they are changed according to the regulations, not before the due date.
  • A car with a two-liter engine and an automatic transmission, fuel consumption is 12 liters per 100 km.
Alexey, Dnepropetrovsk. I praise the CR-V for its good dynamics; for a crossover, the car drives briskly and handles great. Probably all thanks to the elastic suspension, which is not very comfortable for our roads. I have a version with a 2.0 engine and an automatic transmission, it consumes no more than 12 liters per 100 km.

Engine 2.4

  • Igor, Murmansk. A typical city crossover, let's say so for show-off. It doesn’t really know how to drive off-road, although it has all-wheel drive - it helps improve handling, it’s very important for the city, just like an automatic transmission. All this is available. Average gasoline consumption per 100 km reaches 12-13 liters per 100 km.
  • Yuri, Krasnoyarsk. The car is solid, with Japanese quality. I've been dreaming of this for a long time. Consumes 12 liters in the city - with a 2.4 engine and automatic transmission.
  • Maxim, Moscow region. I bought a Honda CR-V in the top-end configuration, with a 2.4-liter engine, all-wheel drive and automatic transmission. Complete stuffing, so to speak, fuel consumption is about 13-14 liters per hundred kilometers. Accelerates quickly and brakes effectively, the car is designed to give driving pleasure. It responds well to the steering wheel and rides smoothly – an excellent balance between handling and comfort. The kids love it; by the way, they sit in the back, in their child seats. And my wife and I sit in the front, and from time to time we replace each other at the helm - this often happens on a long journey, especially under the scorching sun. But in these conditions, an effective air conditioner comes to the rescue. Now we turn on the stove, it is quite noisy, but it heats up in all directions.
  • Slava, Irkutsk. I liked the car, this Honda CR-V is still capable of giving a head start to many competitors. I have a car with a 2.4 engine, fuel consumption is 12-14 liters, depending on the driving pace. It has an automatic transmission.
  • Vladimir, Petropavlovsk. I took a used crossover with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission. Fully equipped, with a mileage of under 100 thousand km. The car is in good condition, a couple of joints need to be redone and it can be piled on. The engine is powerful and produces 160 horsepower. This is enough for an aspirated car, acceleration to the first hundred in just 9.5 seconds according to the passport.

Generation 3

Engine 2.0

  • Boris, Nizhny Novgorod region. My Honda CR-V is a 2008 model, now the mileage is 100 thousand km. I drive it and have no complaints, it’s a very comfortable car. With reckless control. The 2-liter engine and manual transmission are more than enough. Average fuel consumption is 12 liters per hundred. This is in the urban cycle, but on the highway it turns out to be no more than 10 liters. I think I made the right choice. I'm talking about the gearbox, otherwise the automatic would probably work with delays. A friend has a similar car with the same engine and automatic transmission, but of a previous generation. His machine works with delays, so he was afraid to take it. Inside the Honda CR-V there is a spacious and high-quality interior, with a spacious and convertible trunk. You can quickly fold the seats, and you get a flat floor, you can put long items.
  • Elena, Tambov. I'm happy with the car, it's a comfortable and reliable car. With a 2 liter engine, 150 horsepower. The gearbox is automatic and works flawlessly. The gearbox and engine are perfectly coordinated, there is no misunderstanding between them, in the sense of no delays. Perhaps this is why the consumption is so low - about 11-12 liters per hundred in the urban cycle, and this is even with the most dynamic driving. In general, I was pleased with the car.
  • Alexander, Perm. I have a 2009 car, now the mileage is 85 thousand km. I drive a car all year round and do without a garage. The car is reliable, I only service it at the service station. Fuel consumption is 10-12 liters per 100 km. Version with 2.0 engine and manual gearbox.
  • Vlada, Ekaterinoslavl. A car for all occasions, with such and such an engine - a 150-horsepower two-liter gasoline engine. It consumes only 12 liters per hundred, and there is also HBO. The main costs are only for maintenance.
  • Nikita, Rostov. Honda CR-V 2010, with a two-liter internal combustion engine and automatic transmission. In fact, my wife chose the car for me, and we went to the dealership with her. I wanted to take it with the mechanics, but she basically insisted, well, what can you do. She was just passing her license at that time, and now she often drives my Honda. But even so, I don’t feel sorry for anything for my woman. I myself also like the car, the automatic turned out to be moderately efficient, and the acceleration dynamics are very smooth, and even the gear changes are almost imperceptible. Fuel consumption is 12 liters per hundred.

Engine 2.4

  • Alexey, Tomsk. The car was given as a birthday present - used, with a mileage of 99 thousand km. The gift made me happy for the rest of my life, I have long dreamed of one like this. So my dream has come true. Moreover, this is my first car. And after such a car I’m unlikely to need any kind of Volga and Taz. So tremble, you poor people! I'm young and handsome, at this age it's good to show off, and I'm so optimistic. In general, I am a goal-oriented person, and the Honda CR-V is just for me. Dynamic and comfortable car. My student friends now have a free taxi, and I give them a ride with pleasure. You have to do good to people, and then they will repay you. I have a car with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission, fuel consumption is 12-13 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Pyatigorsk. It’s better not to go off-road with such a car - I checked it myself. I drove it once and broke the front bumper. And in the city, the CR-V reveals all its advantages. With a 2.4 engine and automatic transmission it consumes about 13 liters.
  • Anatoly, Sverdlovsk. I bought a car for daily trips around the city and outside the city. I just have work in another city, and transport is somehow difficult. At first I planned to take something simpler - something like Solaris. But in the end I decided that the car should be universal. The choice fell on the Honda CR-V. This car combines a passenger car and an SUV, and is reliable in the Japanese way. This is what I was convinced of during operation. The car never lets me down. With a 2.4 engine and manual gearbox, fuel consumption is 12 liters/100 km.
  • Vasily, Irkutsk. The Honda CR-V is now my only car, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I am very attached to it, I praise the car for its reliability and comfort. Fuel consumption ranges from 10 to 13 liters depending on the city or highway. It's an automatic transmission.
  • Anna, Vorkuta. I got the car from my brother, and he himself switched to a Land Cruiser. Moved to another level so to speak. Honda impressed me in all respects. A very economical car, despite the old 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine. There is an automatic transmission. In the city it consumes about 12-14 liters per 100 km.

Generation 4

Engine 2.0

  • Yaroslav, Pyatigorsk. The car turned out to be quite reliable, even compared to my former Toyota RAV4. Although the car is more expensive to maintain, it is more fun to drive. The old Toyota doesn't hold a candle to my Honda. A CR-V with a 2.0 engine and manual transmission consumes an average of 12 liters per 100 km.
  • Alexander, Kyiv. I have a 2014 Honda CR-V, bought new in Kyiv. In three years I drove 100 thousand, and for this anniversary I decided to share my impressions of the car. This is a typical crossover for every day, easy to drive in the city and on the highway. The CR-V is capable of handling light off-road conditions, but nothing more. A universal car, it has all the options, plus an automatic transmission. A 150-horsepower 2-liter engine is enough in the city. The engine itself is time-tested; it has been installed on many generations of the Honda CR-V. That's why I took it with this engine. With it the consumption is 10-12 liters. The gearbox quickly changes gears, but as a last resort I switch the selector to manual mode.
  • Sergey, Lipetsk. I am a tourist by profession, and I needed a universal car. Before the Honda, I had a Volga one hundred and fifth, well, I won’t drive it to Europe or anywhere else far abroad. Moreover, there are no spare parts for it. So I had to take a foreign car. I chose the top version with a two-liter engine producing 150 horsepower. With it and the automatic transmission, highway consumption does not exceed 10 liters, and this is very good compared to my former Volga. In general, I didn’t regret my choice. But I haven’t parted with my Volga yet; I drive it around my hometown.
  • Stanislav, Perm region. I was choosing between the Toyota RAV-4 and the Honda CR-V. I tested both cars. I liked the way the Honda handled better, so I ended up buying it. With a two-liter engine that produces 150 horsepower. Automatic transmission, fuel consumption 10-12 liters. I liked the car, I made the right choice, my family supports me.
  • Oleg, Dnepropetrovsk. Honda CR-V is a reliable car for all occasions. You just need to service it in a timely manner, and preferably at a company service center. And no collective farm, all spare parts are original. Only in this case will Honda be happy. My version is equipped with a 2.0 engine and manual transmission, consumes up to 12 liters per 100 km.

Engine 2.4

  • Konstantin, Kaliningrad. A comfortable and reliable SUV, what else is needed for life. Moreover, I have the top version, with all the options. The 2.4 engine with 190 horsepower consumes 12-14 liters of gasoline, depending on the driving pace. There is an automatic transmission.
  • Vladimir, Leningrad region. This car seems to be made for me. Meets all my needs. Probably because I'm an extrovert. That is why I took the most powerful 2.4-liter version with automatic transmission. 190 forces is quite enough, with them the car consumes 12-13 liters.
  • Vladimir, St. Petersburg. I bought a car for my beloved wife. She really wanted him, she was literally trembling. We went into a car dealership, she did something weird there and scared away all the customers. This is out of joy, because for our sake they found a suitable set in stock. They picked it up on the day the order was placed, my wife did her best. We chose the version with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission. This is almost a top-end package. The car is practical and family-friendly, rides very smoothly and handles well. The reliability of the car is at a high level, you don’t need to make anything yourself, here my Volga, as they say, is already a thing of the past. Fuel consumption with an automatic transmission is 13 liters in the urban cycle, and outside the city it is no more than 10 liters.
  • Igor, Donetsk. I took the car with all the options and the most powerful engine. Its displacement is 2.4 liters and its power is about 190 horses. The car is comfortable and dynamic. Acceleration to the first hundred in just 10 seconds. Fuel consumption is 12-13 liters with automatic transmission. The car suits me, for the city and for the highway it’s just what I’ve been looking for for a long time.
  • Svetlana, Krasnoyarsk. I have a Honda CR-V with a 2.4-liter engine with 190 horsepower. This is a gasoline unit, which turned out to be very economical in the city, not to mention the highway. I did the math and the average consumption was 11 liters. Very worthy for such a big car.

Generation 5

Engine 2.0

  • Vladimir, Krasnodar. The car is beautiful, no doubt about it. And maybe he knows a thing or two about off-roading. But I still feel sorry for the car, because it’s really beautiful. It's a pity that I can't use my purchase to its fullest extent. I only drive in the city and on the highway, fuel consumption with the 2.0 engine and robot is an acceptable 11 liters.
  • Ekaterina, Arkhangelsk. With the Honda CR-V I want to live and live again. The car gives me so much energy that I have many unattainable goals that it won’t take me a lifetime to achieve. And this is very good, but there is something to strive for. My Honda CR-V is equipped with a CVT and a two-liter engine, with this arsenal the result is 12 liters per hundred.
  • Boris, Stavropol region. I bought a Honda CR-V in 2016. It’s too bad that a version with a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 190 horsepower is not available for the Russian market. This is a great motor, judging by the reviews of my friends in Europe. Ordering from there would have cost me a fortune; in the end I had to take the version with the proven two-liter engine. I have a version with a CVT and all-wheel drive; with this equipment, fuel consumption in the city reaches about 9 liters. Very worthy for such an old engine, and I somehow began to forget about that 1.5-liter turbo engine. It turns out that everything is pretty good, the crossover drives dynamically and brakes confidently. Acceleration to hundreds in 10-11 seconds. I'm happy with the car so far, let's see what happens next.
  • Nikolay, Odessa. I have a Honda CR-V with a 2.0 engine and an automatic transmission. The engine produces 150 horsepower, which is the standard for this class. The unit is reliable, and as far as I know, it was installed on previous generations of CR-V. With it, consumption remains stable at 12 liters per 100 km.
  • Marina, Kazan. I planned to buy a used CR-V at a Honda dealership, but they made me a lucrative offer for a fifth-generation CR-V, that is, for a new car. I couldn’t refuse, the loan was on very favorable terms. I was pleased with the purchase, the car was worth the money. With a 2.0 engine and a CVT, there is all-wheel drive and all the options. The car consumes about 9 liters per hundred.

Engine 2.4

  • Ilya, Belgorod. With this car, it seems that there are no obstacles in my way - it is so dynamic and comfortable. Well, everything is clear, this is the top version, which, with a displacement of 2.4, produces about 180 horsepower. The dynamics of the naturally aspirated engine are more than enough for city driving. And the CR-V is no slouch on the highway either. In our constant traffic jams, the consumption is 14 liters per 100 km, no matter how much I would like it to be less.
  • Mikhail, Moscow. This is the most luxurious car I've ever owned. Honda CR-V of the new generation, in a top-end configuration with a 190-horsepower engine and a robotic gearbox. I didn’t regret that I overpaid for additional options in the form of climate control, full power accessories, a sunroof and exclusive wheels. The car was appreciated by all members of my family, so to speak, from my ancestors to descendants. Of course, my wife is delighted with my choice. Until recently I thought that I would take a Toyota. I am generally predisposed to the Japanese, and mainly to this brand. We just had a Corolla before. But I decided to be original and surprise my family. Average fuel consumption in the urban cycle is about 12-14 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Kyiv. I bought a new CR-V for a lot of money, but the car is worth it. This is Honda, the embodiment of sport and reliability. I just passed my license and decided for myself that I should only take Japanese cars so as not to spoil my mood. My CR-V consumes a maximum of 15 liters of gasoline, I like to drive fast.
  • Igor, Moscow region. I use this crossover in a taxi. I even repainted it yellow so that everyone would turn around and notice only me against the background of all these Solaris. I bought a car when I had a family. We got divorced and needed to do something to release the stress. So I became a taxi driver and didn’t regret it. Honda consumes an average of 12 liters with a 2.4 engine and manual gearbox.
  • Margarita, Leningrad region. Honda CR-V is a worthwhile SUV. It’s an SUV, and I’m not afraid to abuse it where it’s supposed to. The car must be used for its intended purpose, and in the city/on the highway - this also goes without saying. But I'm the kind of person who likes to experiment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In general, for now I’m driving on country roads - I need to start small. The car is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine and an automatic transmission, with this tandem the consumption is about 13 liters.

Sales of the Honda CR-V model first began in the USA and Europe in 1995-1996. From the beginning of production, these crossovers had independent suspensions and all-wheel drive. The base engine was a 2.0-liter engine, developing a maximum power of 126 hp.

In 2002, the second generation of the car appeared. Changes affected the design, engine, suspension, and transmission. In 2007, the third generation Honda CR-V was introduced to the market. The crossover received a completely new design; the engine range was supplemented with a unit with a displacement of 2.4 liters. In 2010, the crossover underwent a facelift, as a result of which the appearance of the lights, bumpers and false radiator grille changed.

Configurations and prices of Honda CR-V III

The overall length of the Honda SRV 3 is 4,574 mm, the wheelbase is 2,620, the width is 1,820, and the height is 1,675. The SUV's ground clearance of 185 millimeters is comparable to that of its competitors.

The exterior of the Honda CRV III can be described as “moderately sporty.” The model looks more calm and “civilized” than real SUVs. The car’s recognition is given by the strongly curved window line falling towards the stern, the original shape of the lower part of the false radiator grille and massive rear lights. Straight lines of stampings along the sides are designed to make the appearance less massive and more rapid.

The interior design of the Honda SRV 3 is original, but calm. The interior is given individuality by new solutions in the design of the gearshift lever podium, the lower part of the steering wheel, door handles and armrests. The interior is dominated by regular shapes and no unnecessary decorations. Infrequent digitization of instrument scales contributes to better readability of readings.

In Russia, the Honda CR-V 3 was offered with two gasoline engines: 2.4 i-VTEC and 2.0 i-VTEC. Both power units have 4 valves per cylinder and consume gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95.

The first engine has a displacement of 2.4 liters and develops a maximum power of 166 hp. at 5,800 rpm, maximum torque of 220 Nm is achieved at 4,200 rpm. This unit meets the environmental requirements of Euro-4.

The working volume of the second engine is 2.0 liters. Engine technical characteristics: maximum power 150 hp. at 6,200 rpm, torque – 192 Nm at 4,200 rpm. The power unit meets Euro-5 environmental requirements. The Honda SRV III can be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission with electronic control.

The price of the 2012 Honda CR-V in the basic version with manual transmission started at 1,149,000 rubles. The equipment includes 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, stabilization system (VSA) with traction control, air conditioning, electric windows, immobilizer, folding key, central locking, on-board computer, 4 speakers, electric drive and heated rear-view mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels and fabric interior trim.

The cost of the Honda SR-V 3 crossover in the top-end Executive configuration was 1,479,000 rubles. This version additionally has heated front seats, an electric sunroof, a radio with a CD player (supports MP3 and USB) and 6 speakers, a subwoofer, a 6-disc CD changer, headlight washers, rain and light sensors, dual-zone climate control, cruise -control, fog lights, parking sensors front and rear, leather trim and standard alarm.

In the summer of 2012, the Japanese manufacturer presented a new one at the Moscow Motor Show, which received a completely different exterior and interior design, as well as a more powerful 192-horsepower 2.4-liter engine.
