Activating protection mode

The mode is activated as follows:

  1. On the main remote control you press a button in the form of a closed lock.

  3. Activation of the security mode is accompanied by one sound signal from the siren.
  4. If your car is equipped with window closers, the windows will roll up automatically.
  5. If the siren makes four beeps instead of one and the parking lights blink the same number of times, this indicates that the system has detected and automatically disabled a non-working security zone. For example, the doors, trunk or hood may be open. The “signaling” can react this way to the disabled handbrake. At the same time, on the remote control screen you will see which security zone did not work. When the fault is fixed, the alarm will automatically take the problem area under protection.

No siren sound

You can activate the security mode without turning on the siren, the main features of this function:

  1. To turn on the protection, you need to press the mute button; the indicator is made in the form of a crossed out loudspeaker. The key is pressed once.
  2. When this mode is activated, all messages and confirmations from the anti-theft system will be sent by the alarm only to the remote control. The siren will not sound.
  3. As a result of activation, the vehicle's turning lights should flash once.

Activating security with the engine running

The Tomahawk X5 anti-theft system allows you to arm the car with the power unit running, to do this you need to do the following:

  1. Start your car's engine.
  2. Leave the car, close all doors and hood.
  3. Click on the indicator in the form of a closed lock, under which there are two English letters Z. This will close all doors.
  4. After this, within three seconds you need to press the same button again. This will cause the system to emit one beep and the turn lights to blink the same number of times.
  5. To disable this mode, you must press the button with the open lock indicator and the key.

Auto arming

Programming the auto-arming mode:

  1. To enable this mode, you need to press and hold the button in the form of a closed lock until the control panel emits one melodic signal.
  2. Activation may be indicated by a change in the color of the LED light on the additional remote control; it will change to green.
  3. When the mode is activated, the car alarm will notify the owner with one sound signal. The protection turns on after ten seconds.
  4. On the display of the main remote control, this mode is indicated in the form of a car, next to which the inscription AUTO ARM is located.

Deactivating the mode

To disable the security mode, press a button in the form of an open lock with a key. In this case, the car's turning lights should blink twice, and the siren will emit a double beep when it is not in muted mode. Activating autorun

To activate the remote engine start function, you must correctly configure the safe mode:

  1. To do this, pull the handbrake lever, while the engine must be running.
  2. Then a button in the form of an open lock with a key is pressed. The control panel should emit one beep. If an additional key fob is used, the LED indicator on it should change its color to green.
  3. Within three seconds after the first press, the button is pressed again.
  4. Then you need to turn off the ignition, the power unit will continue to work.
  5. Within thirty seconds you need to open the door, leave the car and close it. This completes the preparation for remote start.

To activate the remote start of the internal combustion engine, do the following:

  1. Click on the button in the form of an open lock with a key. Hold it down until the key fob makes one beep. Or the color of the LED indicator on the additional remote control should change.
  2. Within three seconds after the beep, the button is pressed again.
  3. If the function is programmed correctly, the car doors should close. At the same time, the power unit will start and function for a certain time, configured in advance. When this time has passed, the engine will turn off. The alarm LED will light continuously and the turn lights will flash.

Activation conditions

Implementation of this function is impossible if:

  • the transmission selector is set to any speed position, only activation of the neutral mode is allowed;
  • ignition activated;
  • the car hood is open;
  • the handbrake lever is disabled;
  • Valet service mode is activated.

How to install?

You can install and connect the anti-theft system yourself. Using the diagram specified in the package, you can connect all the elements of the car alarm.

How to install the alarm:

  1. Select a location to install the control module. The central unit must be located in a place inaccessible to an attacker. It is important that it is dry. When choosing a place to install the central unit, keep in mind that exposure to high temperatures and moisture will cause it to break. Most often, the unit is placed under the center console, behind the glove compartment or dashboard. The latter option is considered optimal, since with such a location an attacker will have to spend more time gaining access to the device. To install, remove the steering column trims. Securely fix the block with self-tapping screws so that it does not vibrate during movement.
  2. Open the hood and select a location to mount the siren. This device should be installed with the horn facing sideways or upwards. If it is directed downward, dirt may stick to it, which will subsequently cause the device to not function properly. The siren must be installed as far as possible from the engine. Exposure to high temperatures from the power unit will damage the device. The wires from the siren must be routed through a special technological hole from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment.
  3. An antenna adapter with an LED indicator is mounted on the windshield. The antenna must be fixed so that it is at least 5 cm away from the metal parts of the body. If the transceiver is located close to metal, signal transmission will occur with interference. Such a location will reduce the range of the alarm. In some cases, the “signaling” will not respond at all to commands sent by the remote control.
  4. Install the shock sensor. It is better to place it in the central part of the body, for example, under the seats or behind the headliner. If several sensitivity controllers are used, it is better to place them around the perimeter of the body. The sensors are fixed with self-tapping screws.
  5. The temperature sensor is installed in the engine compartment. The controller crashes into the cooling system pipe. This place is the most optimal. Securely fix the sensor so that it does not come off and go along the system lines.
  6. The blocking relay is installed on the ignition switch.
  7. When all alarm components are installed, the wires are laid and connected to the central unit. The cables are laid under the car interior lining and thresholds. During installation, make sure that the electrical circuits are not affected by moving mechanisms. Otherwise the wires will be damaged.

Initially, the alarm is assigned a password of 1-1.

How to replace correctly:

  1. Press the Valet or Overwide service key four times.
  2. Then the ignition is turned on. To confirm the function, the car alarm siren should emit four beeps.
  3. After this, the service button is pressed again.
  4. Using one of the key fobs, you can set the first digit of the password.
  5. If everything is done correctly, the siren will sound.
  6. To enter the second digit of the code, you must repeat the steps described in paragraphs 4 and 5. You can use any combination from 1-1 to 4-4.

After the password has been changed, it must be used:

  1. Turn off the ignition in the car.
  2. Press the Valet service button five times; this must be done within ten seconds after turning off the ignition.
  3. Then the ignition is turned on. The siren should emit five beeps.
  4. When they sound, the service button is pressed again.
  5. One short beep should sound.
  6. The actions specified in paragraphs 4-5 are repeated 14 times.
  7. When the sound signals are heard, press buttons 2, 3 and 4 on the control panel.
  8. After this, you can disable the setup mode. To do this, you need to wait ten seconds or turn off the ignition.

Numbering of buttons on the key fob

Key fob programming

Before using the anti-theft system, you need to program a new key fob; the setup procedure is as follows:

  1. The car's ignition is turned off.
  2. The service alarm button is pressed seven times.
  3. The ignition is then activated. The siren should emit seven beeps. This indicates that the system is ready for programming.
  4. After this, the service button is released.
  5. Then the car owner must simultaneously press the buttons to open and close the doors. If the programming procedure is completed successfully, the siren will emit an audible signal.
  6. The car's ignition is turned off. This will automatically exit programming. This mode will also be exited if no commands are sent from the remote control to the control unit within six seconds.

In total, the car owner can store up to four remote controls in the anti-theft system's memory.

The programming procedure must be carried out with the security mode disabled. If you record new remote controls into the alarm memory, it is important to rewrite the old devices as well. Otherwise, they are automatically deleted from the system memory.

How to connect?

The connection process consists of several stages.

The instructions are:

  1. First, the siren is installed in the engine compartment. To do this, you need to take into account that their installation is carried out in a place where there is no moisture at high temperatures. Sirens should not interfere with vehicle repairs, and their horn should always be positioned downwards.
  2. Then it is mounted. You need to use any hole in the engine compartment that is suitable for this purpose. The limit switches should not rest against anything; their contact should be as reliable as possible.
  3. Now the temperature sensor is being installed. It is better to screw this sensor to the engine, so you can get more reliable information about the temperature state of the motors. The black wires of the sensors are always installed to ground, and their white (or light) wires should be connected to the orange wire from the limit switch mounted on the hood. It is better to solder such joints and install special heat shrinks on top. Next, the wiring from the limit switch and siren should be connected to the wiring of your car, so you will need to bring them into the cabin.
  4. The next step will be to install the antenna. This element should be installed away from metal parts and wiring. Often, antennas are installed in the area of ​​the windshield, for example, in the upper or lower corner. Wiring can be laid under the casing.
  5. Now you need to install an LED lamp, which will indicate that the system is working. It can also be installed next to the antenna; in some models, the antenna comes with a lamp in the same housing.
  6. Next, you need to connect all the wires and connectors to the central unit. This is done in accordance with the diagram that comes with the security system.
  7. Find a location for the shock sensor. It is better to secure the shock sensor with a zip tie or double-sided tape. You can also screw the shock sensor if there is a corresponding hole. It is advisable to choose a convenient location, since you will subsequently configure the shock sensor. To avoid mistakes during installation, watch the video (the author of the video is avtozvuk).

How to setup?

  1. To begin with, the shock sensitivity control should be set to minimum. The sensitivity of the device should be increased gradually, regularly checking the response threshold. To understand when you no longer need to increase the sensitivity, periodically tap the car with your fist.
  2. Start the engine remotely. Press the “key” button, at this moment several symbols will appear on the key fob screen (the image of a car means that the engine is running). Its operation time is set using the table that comes with the kit. By simultaneously pressing the “key” and “lock” buttons, you can increase the operating time of the unit; each press will add 5 minutes.
  3. Daily engine start function. To select this option, press the key and volume down buttons, hold them down and hold them until a characteristic melody sounds. When the option is activated, exactly one day later the system will automatically start the engine. To disable the option, repeat the same steps.
  4. How to open the trunk remotely? To do this, press and hold the trunk open button on the key fob. This option must be enabled in advance during system installation.
  5. What can you do with the Override button? With Override you can configure some options without using the key fob. To do this, turn off the ignition and press Override. By pressing Override 3 times, you activate the Valet mode, 2 times - the option to start the engine every day, 5 times - the automatic mode of warming up the cabin to a certain temperature. To disable the feature, simply click Override. Possible faults

Now let's move on to the malfunctions characteristic of such car alarms.

  1. If the system does not respond to pressing the buttons on the key fob, then, as a rule, the fault lies in the fact that the battery in the key fob is dead or the device needs to be programmed. Also, your vehicle may currently be in the interference zone.
  2. A common problem with Tomahawk is that the system does not turn on the fuel pump. In this case, you will have to contact an electrician or the person who installed the system. There may be connection problems.
  3. If the malfunction is that the system does not close all doors, most likely you need to carry out a thorough diagnosis of the central locking drive. If only one door does not close, then a certain wiring may be broken or broken.
  4. If the key fob from the system works randomly, in our words “buggy”, then you also need to check the battery. If it is normal, then you can try to program the device again.

Before using the Tomahawk X5 communicator, you must install a working battery in the device. The power supply is inserted into the compartment located behind the back cover of the key fob. When installing, polarity must be taken into account.

Changing the PIN code

Tomahawk X5 alarms are normally assigned a two-digit password 11, it is used to enter the service mode and emergency shutdown of the lock.

  9. After the last signal, the key to enter the service mode is pressed 1 time. The siren will sound. The steps at this point must be repeated 14 times.

  1. The driver leaves the vehicle interior and locks all doors, including the hood and luggage compartment.
  2. The button with the indicator of the locked lock and the “Zz” symbols is pressed. All door devices will close.
  3. Then, within 3 seconds, the same key must be pressed again. The alarm will be activated by a siren and optical devices. To disable the function, use a button in the form of an open lock with a key.

Automatic arming
