What is better Ford Focus 2 restyling. Ford Focus II (2004–2011): case history

Ford Focus begins its history in 1998. In 2004, the second generation of the model appeared, which underwent restyling in 2008. In 2011, it was replaced by the 3rd Focus.

The Ford Focus has been a bestseller on the market for both new and used cars for many years. According to many analysts and surveys, this is the most popular foreign car. The car turned out to be quite successful. Many car owners, having driven the first generation Focus, remained loyal to it and, without hesitation, switched to Ford Focus 2. The new car brought with it new diseases. We will focus on these shortcomings.

Engines

Focus 2 received the latest Duratec series gasoline engines with a new gas distribution system that provides high performance and efficiency. These engines are 1.4 (80 hp), 1.6 (115 hp), 1.8 (125 hp) and 2.0 (145 hp). It was possible to purchase a Ford with the old reliable 1.6 l / 100 hp engine. Zetec series.

The new engines, as Ford promised, thanks to modern technology, turned out to be quite high-torque, but some of them caused trouble. However, their share is not high. The main problem, characteristic of all engines of the new series, turned out to be electronics. The main complaints are floating idle speeds and dips in traction during intense acceleration. The reason lay in errors in the ECU mixture formation program, coils, connectors and ignition wires, as well as in the throttle valve. Electronics sometimes began to malfunction after 30-40 thousand km.

The Duratec series engines are, in addition, very sensitive to the quality of the fuel and the serviceability of the spark plugs. This, in turn, often leads to interruptions in engine operation, detonation and difficult starting in the cold season.

Some engines completely failed even after a mileage of 40-70 thousand km due to oil starvation caused by a faulty oil pump. As a rule, the pressure relief valve jammed. The first sign of the disease is a short-term blinking of the “oil can” and a leak of the crankshaft oil seal. If you do not pay attention to this and delay visiting a car service center, you may find yourself stuck for a long time due to the engine jamming. The luckier ones will simply lose compression, but the verdict will be the same - cranking of the liners.

With a mileage of more than 80-100 thousand km, owners complained about an increase in oil consumption - about 100-150 g per 1000 km. By 250-300 thousand km, appetite sometimes increased to 1 liter per 1000 km, which is not the norm. It's all about the underlying rings. The cost of major repairs will be 20-60 thousand rubles.

After 100-150 thousand km, the valve cover gasket may leak. The starter and generator begin to mope after 150-200 thousand km. By this time, the supports of the power unit also wear out (3-5 thousand rubles apiece). After 200,000 km, the fuel pump fails.

Ford Focus 2 engines are not equipped with hydraulic compensators, and therefore the manufacturer recommends adjusting the valve clearance every 150,000 km. The process is quite labor-intensive and requires considerable costs. Some examples require valve adjustment after 100,000 km.

Engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters have a timing chain drive with a declared service life of 300-350 thousand km. There are practically no problems with the timing drive up to 200-250 thousand km. Engines with a capacity of 1.6 and 1.4 liters are equipped with a timing belt drive with a recommended replacement interval of 150,000 km. Mechanics advise reducing it to 100,000 km. The cost of a new kit including work is about 9,000 rubles.

In 1.6/115 hp engines assembled before 2007, camshaft gears often failed. Later the gears were modified and became more durable. The cost of one gear is 5,000 rubles.

Fuel consumption is not a costly aspect of operation. It directly depends on the driver’s temperament and corresponds to the characteristics of the engine. For a 2-liter engine, on average, in the city it is 12-13 liters with a manual transmission and 12-14 liters with an automatic transmission, and on the highway it is content with 7-8 liters. The 1.8 version consumes about 10-11 liters in the city and up to 8 liters on the highway. The 1.6-liter modification requires up to 13 liters in the city with automatic transmission and up to 11-12 liters with manual transmission, and on the highway - about 7 liters. The smallest 1.4-liter block is close in gasoline costs to 1.6 liters: up to 11-12 liters in the city and 6-7 liters on the highway.

Diesel Focus 2s have not received widespread distribution. The reason is poor fuel quality, which affects the longevity of the injectors, and the fear of the owners. There is a joke among people: “Diesel loves service, but there is no service.” One of the disadvantages is the failure of the glow plug sensor. As a result, the electronics “overexpose” the spark plug longer than the calculated time, and it burns out. When the mileage exceeds 100,000 km, the EGR valve fails.

In the 1.8 TDCi turbodiesel, the dual-mass flywheel wears out quite quickly - after 80-120 thousand km (20-26 thousand rubles). There are also problems with the turbine (110,000 rubles). If you refuel at trusted places, then the injectors (22,000 rubles apiece) will last more than 200,000 km, and the fuel injection pump (70,000 rubles) will last more than 300,000 km.

Diesel, unlike its gasoline counterparts, is more economical - up to 10 liters in the city and 6 liters on the highway.

Transmission

The 4F27E automatic was developed jointly with Mazda. With proper operation and timely oil changes, it maintains almost on par with the engine. The most common complaints are shocks when switching, appearing after 100,000 km. But with them, the automatic transmission can survive 300-350 thousand km. To restore functionality you will need at least 50,000 rubles.

There are two manual transmissions: MTX-75 and IB5. The first one is the most reliable. It was combined only with 2-liter gasoline engines and diesel 1.6 and 1.8 TDCi. IB5 often requires repairs after 200-250 thousand km: synchronizers, bearings, satellite axis, differential and 5th gear wear out. Repairs may require from 10 to 40 thousand rubles.

The clutch can last up to 200-250 thousand km, but the release bearing (2-4 thousand rubles) may give up a little earlier - after 150-200 thousand km.

After 120-180 thousand km, sometimes you have to deal with leaking drive seals. A little later, the outboard bearing of the right drive shaft fails (2-5 thousand rubles). And by 200,000 km, vibrations appear due to wear of the internal CV joints (from 4,000 rubles).

Chassis

The power steering used on the Ford Focus II also does not go unnoticed and requires monitoring of the condition of the pipelines. Traditional power steering is more reliable, but it happens that fluid leaks from high-pressure pipes. The innovative electric power steering (EAHPS) driven by an electric motor manifests itself after 60,000 km by leaking fluid through the junction of the high-pressure tube with the steering rack.

Electric power steering is characterized by a whine, especially when turning the steering wheel, which becomes more and more apparent over time. Subsequently, the bearings have to be replaced. After 200,000 km, the pump may fail due to wear of the electric motor winding or a burnt-out transistor. The pump can only be original - 30,000 rubles. For its repair, the service will ask about 12,000 rubles.

After 150-200 thousand km, the steering rack may require attention - a knock appears, a leak appears, or the steering wheel bites. The cost of a new original rail is 48,000 rubles, and an analogue - from 13,000 rubles.

When leaving the showroom in a brand new car, owners often discovered knocking noises somewhere on the right. The source is the subframe, which is also a safety element that ensures that the engine moves down under the car in the event of a frontal collision. Noise is eliminated by a thick rubber lining.

After 100-150 thousand km, silent blocks, ball joints and shock absorbers of the front suspension are often suitable for replacement, and after 150-200 thousand km - silent blocks and shock absorbers on the rear axle.

Front wheel bearings wear out after 120-180 thousand km. The rear bearings are practically eternal.

Body

The body has a hard time withstanding salty winters. With the arrival of spring, the fifth door and trunk lid “bloom.” Blisters form after 1-1.5 years of operation under the license plate and near the chrome trim. Corrosion affects the rear wheel arches and rear fenders (in the corner near the bumper). Repainting only helps for 2-3 years. The thresholds often peel off due to sandblasting from the wheels. Chips on the body gradually rust. Against this background, the hood stands out sharply, which is not subject to corrosion, and chips are almost not covered with rust. However, such characteristics of metal have become the norm for most automakers, and compared to any other car brands, this drawback is not out of the ordinary.

Interior

Trends in the use of interior trim materials have not bypassed the Ford Focus II. In general, they make a good impression, but their low quality is revealed by multiple creaks that appear with the onset of cold weather. The most common problems are dashboards and door trims. Sometimes extraneous sounds are made by moldings and the interior lining of the trunk. Noise insulation is average, but the wheel arches are the worst insulated. The front seats often squeak, and with a mileage of more than 50,000 km, the seat height adjustment mechanism sometimes fails when used frequently.

After 150-200 thousand km, from time to time the display on the dashboard begins to malfunction, system malfunction indicators light up, and random error messages appear. The reason is a burnt out processor or bad contacts (needs to be soldered).

Conclusion

In general, the Ford Focus 2 is a car for the people; as a rule, with proper handling and maintenance, it serves faithfully for many years.

Each car is equipped with an engine control unit, which is responsible for the operation of such vehicle components as the fuel mixture injection system, setting the optimal ignition timing, and maintaining speed for stable operation of the power unit. The Ford Focus 2 station wagon is no exception - the car is also equipped with an ECU, which, as practice shows, needs to be reflashed 2 years after purchasing the car. And if a car is purchased by a connoisseur of speed, then it will be even faster. What is chip tuning of the second generation Focus station wagon? Firstly, this is the use of exclusively the latest versions of imported firmware. Chinese does not mean imported. Secondly, if you want to achieve a good result, perform chip tuning of your Focus engine only using the original programmer. Thirdly, don’t look for the easy way out, but pay extra and buy a really high-quality K-Line adapter. Otherwise, you will not only fail to perform chip tuning, but will completely destroy the ECU of your station wagon - proven by the practice of inexperienced users. In addition, do not listen to the myths that if during the process of chip tuning the Ford ignition turns off and does not turn on again, then this is how it should be. It should definitely start a second time, unless, of course, you saved on the adapter.

By adhering to these simple rules, you will make your station wagon much more agile, its dynamics will increase significantly, and the time for acceleration will be reduced to a minimum. Before performing chip tuning, you need to find the treasured “black box” or ECU of the Focus 2 engine. It is located behind the dashboard of the car closer to the steering wheel. We remove the tidy inside the car, unscrew the fasteners and pull out the protective partition, after which we should see the block. We connect the K-Line adapter to it, and then turn on the ignition. Then the laptop display should light up, on which you will see a folder named Focus_II. This is the ECU of your station wagon. Open this folder, and then start the chip tuning process. It is best to install the firmware in the root folder of the block. The new utility will offer you to calibrate some settings of your car's systems. Accept the offer and start imagining. But without fanaticism, otherwise, again, the bloc will suffer. During setup, pay special attention to the car's suspension. At this point you can adjust the operation of the regulators, standard and extreme suspension heights in working and non-working conditions. After calibration is complete, click OK and start downloading. Chip tuning of a station wagon should not exceed 10 minutes. If it takes longer, then this may be an alarming sign - you will have to call a specialist to your home.

After finishing installing the firmware, turn off the station wagon’s ignition and disconnect the wires of the K-Line adapter. After this, you can experience all the power of the Focus 2, which the manufacturers and Ford for some reason hid deep in the depths of the car’s engine. Thanks to this, your station wagon, despite its considerable weight, will be able to give odds to any semi-sports hatchback.

2 How to complement a “reflashed” Ford

After tuning your Ford Focus 2 by flashing the ECU, don’t forget to improve the car’s suspension. Otherwise, the entire potential of the motor that you have discovered will serve as a reserve. We need each of the machine systems to become better. To modernize the suspension, you can go in two ways: direct your efforts to a complete restyling of the car or spend money on improving its technical characteristics. If you chose the first option, then cutting off several turns on the car springs is perfect for this. This will make your Focus much shorter, making it look like a real drift monster. If the suspension, like the whole car, must have excellent technical characteristics, then you should change the regulators in this element of the car. To do this, you can use the details from Subaru or BMW. To prevent the suspension from getting lost near a powerful engine, pay attention to the Ford crankshaft. It is quite unstable, which gives you every right to replace it. Everything here is also very simple - take an element from Volkswagen Golf V and set it to your Focus.

Each of these methods of improving the suspension, as well as engine chip tuning, is suitable not only for a station wagon. Using these methods, you can improve both the Focus 2 sedan and the hatchback car. The main thing is to carefully consider your every step, because some methods of internal tuning and restyling require additional cash injections.

In addition to the suspension, we recommend paying attention to the car’s air filter. This element will have to be completely replaced using a zero from the company AEM. The spare part belongs to the class of new generation filters capable of retaining particles with sizes up to 1 micron. For some, this may seem like a small thing, but in the process of a complete transformation of Focus 2, every little thing matters.

3 Restyling of the interior and exterior at minimal cost

After a high-quality modernization of the car's elements, it's time to work on its interior and appearance. We will perform a spectacular restyling using the example of the Focus 2 sedan and hatchback. The first thing worth improving in this car is the optics. “Angel eyes” are perfect for this – the latest fashion trend among fans of external tuning.

To perform restyling by replacing the standard optics of the car, we will need:

  • block inverter;
  • CCFL headlights;
  • LEDs;
  • double sided tape.

First, we pull out the partition of the standard headlights and remove the Ford optics. Next, we carefully clean the place where the restyling elements fit, and also clean the partition. Wipe dry and stick double-sided tape to the back wall of the seat. If you want to prevent the new optics from falling off immediately after installation, do not use the tape that comes with the new headlights. It's better to pay extra and buy adhesive tape separately.

We glue the new CCFL headlights to the tape. They are glass tubes with a diameter of no more than 2 mm. There is gas inside them. The glass tubes, in turn, are placed in plastic rings that protect delicate devices from breakage. The new optics kit should include 4 CCFL headlights - 2 larger and 2 smaller. We attach large headlights to the edges of the seats, and smaller ones closer to the hood. Next, we proceed to connecting the new optics. To do this, take one inverter for each headlight and see the black and red wire coming from the unit. These wires must be connected to the standard side light socket. The inverters themselves can be placed behind the “angel eyes” directly in the seat of the sedan’s new optics.

If you wish, you can complement the restyling with LED headlights. They are placed on the sides of large rings of “angel eyes” and can work either stationary from side lights or independently from the cigarette lighter. Compared to Focus 2 pre-restyling, such optics will effectively illuminate the roadway and give your car a more aggressive appearance.

As for the interior of our sedan, here, as in the case of optics, there is something to work on. The first example is cabin lighting. Initially, the standard lamp shines quite brightly, but over time it ceases to effectively illuminate the interior, which sometimes makes driving the Focus 2 dangerous. For restyling, you will need to replace the standard lamp with a neon device. It is best to connect the wires of the latter to the cigarette lighter or to the sedan's radio.

Good afternoon!

Soon Fordik will turn 4 years old, I decided to unsubscribe a little...

The car has been parked near the house since January 2014, electric, metro and reason have prevailed, and getting there by public in 1 hour 30 minutes is much more pleasant than by car from 1.5 to 2.5 one way...)

Review of Ford Focus 2.0 16V (Ford Focus) 2010 Part 2

4 years of operation have passed during which I have driven only 33,000 km. But the completely unpredictable situation in the country, the expiring warranty and a good offer to buy my car pushed me to the decision that it was time to change the car. Therefore, I will describe my impressions of the car over the 23,000 km traveled since the last review of it.

Let me remind you: Ford Focus, production: December 2010, sedan, 2 liters, 5 manual transmission, Titanium + Winter package (heated front seats, windshield, windshield washer nozzles), color “white”

I described my impressions of the exterior/interior and the main components of the car in detail in my first review. I will only note that nothing in my perception of Snow White has changed during this time. The car has always pleased with its good handling and dynamic acceleration, and the convenient location of all controls.

Strengths:

  • Engine
  • Controllability
  • Design
  • Liquidity in the secondary market
  • Reliability
  • Comfort

Weak sides:

  • Low ground clearance
  • Harsh suspension

Good day. I decided to write my first review.

I bought the car a year ago to replace a successfully sold Priora. There was no pain in choosing a brand, initially I wanted a restyled focus, but finding a well-maintained example was not so easy, despite the fact that the car is common. I searched for 2 months. The requirements were: price 450 thousand (edge), one owner, dealer, maximum equipment (presence of ESP and maximum number of airbags), local, mileage no more than 50 thousand, no accidents, engine no less than 1.8, 1.6 or less did not even consider. As a result, what we have: we negotiated for 445 thousand, 2008, Russian assembly, GIA equipment, no standard xenon, leather and winter package (heated seats and windshield), cruise control, everything else is there, mileage at the time of purchase is 39 thousand, at a hundred confirmed, the perfect condition of both the car as a whole and the interior, winter tires on wheels (I really liked the Danlom Graspik DS 2, I was riding on Velcro for the first time, I thought there would be no problem after the studs), the first trip from the city of Shakhty to my native Zernograd caused a storm of positive emotions, once again Let me explain, before Fedya I drove only on frets. fast, quiet, in other words, a foreign car))

When buying a used car, I was ready to spend certain expenses. When buying, I noticed that the car was yawing at speed, on the advice of a knowledgeable person, I changed the tires to Kumho KU 31 SPT 205 55 R16, after the replacement the yaw stopped. My only regret is that I didn’t take the 60th profile, and they are excellent tires, quiet, and brake well , drives well through puddles. We also replaced after the purchase the oil formula f 5w30 1100r-5l., oil filter 260r., original power steering fluid 1l-500r., brake fluid 1l-300r., air filter 350r., cabin filter 350r., covered the face with armored film, installed Philips daytime running lights (2500 RUR), bought lamps for low beam 110% (1000 RUR) and adjusted them according to the stand (200 RUR) as a result, excellent low beam, to be honest, I don’t see the point in non-standard xenon, although many people drive, original spark plugs (1100 RUR per set), cleaning injectors, throttle body and injector (1500 RUR) I do everything from unofficials, the windshield wiper blades were taken by Belgian Champion (700 RUR) very pleased, I took the original one for the back (700 RUR). Poor location of the brake fluid reservoir, I had to make a hose with a watering can with a canister)) except Moreover, the tank itself is opaque. When replacing the antifreeze, it turned out that there was no drain hole in the block, only in the radiator, so I drained as much as was drained and added a new one, why not do it like on the vase?!

Strengths:

  • Handsome
  • Goes well
  • Good handling
  • Good interior materials
  • In my case, the equipment
  • Clear gear shifting
  • Headlights
  • Nothing rattles (after the vases)
  • Convenient handles for opening doors and trunk lids
  • Liquidity
  • Lots of non-original parts
  • The engine warms up quickly and cools down slowly

Weak sides:

  • No 6th gear
  • Poor quality seat trim
  • Price for some spare parts (for example fuel pump)
  • Some engineering solutions (see review)
  • Fog light (it was better on the Priora with standard bulbs)
  • One reversing light
  • Visibility when driving in reverse
  • Floating speed
  • Standard mudguards are hard and low (easy to lose)
  • No USB for stock radio
  • Original continental tires
  • Alternator belt squealing when cold
  • Crunching sound when engaging reverse gear
  • Antifreeze does not drain from engine block
  • Standard casting will peel off

Review of Ford Focus 2.0 16V (Ford Focus) 2010

Good day to all!

I have owned a car since 2010, bought it new for 682,000 rubles. The equipment is almost maximum (everything except leather) titanium. During the entire period of operation (city - 80%, highway - 20%), only consumables (oil, filters, pads) were changed. At 100,000 km I changed all the brake discs (although the rear ones could not have been changed), while changing shoes I noticed a wet spot on the rear shock absorber and immediately changed all four at the OD. And they told me that I could still drive... but I decided to change it, as it would be safer.

There was also a replacement of the support bearings (under warranty), the belt tensioner roller (under warranty), the stabilizer link on the left (under warranty for 80,000 km), and I replaced the second one on my own. That's all the expenses... yes, also spark plugs every 20,000 km. Service only at OD.

Strengths:

The car is inexpensive, reliable, convenient... also quite inexpensive to operate. This is already the second Ford Focus I have (the first was 2008, 1.6 manual transmission). Only 2L is more suitable for this car.

Weak sides:

The downside is quite a bit... the paintwork could have been better (the paint has come off at the junction of the rear bumper and the fender near the wheel arch, 1-1.5 cm), although after 4.5 years of regular use, it’s probably not very bad.

Review of Ford Focus 1.4 16V (Ford Focus) 2009

The car was bought by accident. I needed a car “to learn how to drive after driving school.” Initially I looked at 2113-2114 (due to budget limitations and lack of knowledge/assistants in choosing used cars), but thanks to the crisis in the spring of 2009, a preferential car loan program was launched and Ford reduced the price of its simplest model to 345k rubles. True, after a couple of months the ceiling on the cost of the program was raised almost 2 times and prices immediately flew away, but whoever had time snatched it. I'm one of them. Since I initially counted on the domestic auto industry, money was tight and I got the car in the most basic form - without ABS, air conditioning, casting, music and other joys of life - but oh well.

In general, over 5 years and 60k km, the machine itself has not caused any trouble. The engine subjectively produces more than 80 horses. With 1-2 people in the car, I didn’t feel disadvantaged in city traffic - acceleration was at the level of 8-valve tens. A very good gearbox (only there are plugs with reverse gear - as they said at the service center, “a design defect”). Good visibility, the mirrors are generally the best I’ve ever encountered - moderately large, with curved tips on both, there were no blind spots, at least for me.

In the first winter, out of my own stupidity, I discharged the battery in the car and left it in the cold for several weeks (New Year holidays). The verdict of experts on the forum and other familiar car enthusiasts is that it needs a replacement, they say it’s not a good option. Nevertheless, I warmed it up, discharged and charged it a couple of times and it still works! In extreme winter, after 40 hours of inactivity, it started at -29 the first time (if you know how). Also, in the first year of operation, it rubbed against a concrete pillar when parking - it slightly deformed the wing and stripped the paintwork down to the metal. For the first months I didn’t do anything about it at all (I was looking for where I could do it on a budget), then I just covered it with Ford anti-chip paint in several layers - after 5 years there are no hints of rust. 2 times in the city I got into a head-on accident - judging by the sound and sensations in the cabin, I thought it was serious, but no - the metal on the body is very good and local craftsmen were even able to restore the original bumper.

Strengths:

Metal, paintwork

Suspension, steering

Visibility

Weak sides:

By 60,000 the interior began to rattle (possibly the consequences of installing acoustics in the first year), it is necessary to open and glue

The installation of some consumables is illogical and labor-intensive - battery, cabin filter

The front low beam lamps often burn out - and the problem is widespread in the FF2, because “one-eyed” people often come across on the roads

Review of Ford Focus 1.6 16V (Ford Focus) 2009 Part 4

I continue the report on the operation of my ff. It’s been 10 years since the last review, but quite a lot of events have happened that forced me to sit down at the keyboard again. All the advantages of the car have not gone away and I am not giving up on them. Writing about them again is boring. But the fact that the car required the first serious financial expenditure is a fact. This is what I want to talk about.

At the next maintenance, the mechanic strongly recommended repairing the rear suspension. He showed me the well-torn rubber in the lever seals. It turns out that after overhauling the multi-link, I didn’t reach the psychological barrier of 100 tk. mileage Result: the rear suspension was loose at 70 tk, while the first signs of rubber fatigue were noticed at 50 tk. Is it a lot or a little? I don't know, but I expected more. Despite the fact that it is still ideal, it means that the exploitation is not brutal on my part. Thoughts about some kind of catch cannot leave me, because next to me there was a focus with a mileage of 200 thousand. – the rear suspension is still in good condition! The owner swore that he did not climb there. And of the differences in the cars, I only found that it had a German assembly. And for me: replacement of the trailing arm bushings (dead completely), steering control arms assemblies (deadly killed), large spring-loaded lever assemblies (close to death) and the obligatory wheel alignment. Total for everything including work is 16,500 rubles. I still have the sickles and stabilizer alive - with them it would have been 20,000 rubles. This is a good informal one. The dealer has 42,000 rubles. For all. Yes, and I want to note: even the worn-out rear multi-link does not knock or rattle. Look there. After the replacement, I felt increased elasticity and... composure or something...

From under the chrome saber on the fifth door, the paint was peeling off again in places that I touched up with a brush. I found two more hearths on the same door on the bend right under the glass. I decided to paint the door completely. Price 9000 rub. along with cutting and pasting glass. By the way, I would like to note that in places where the paintwork has fallen off, the metal does not rust. When I gave the car back, the master secretly showed me another sore spot of paintwork tricks - the junction of the rear bumper and the wing. And indeed, on the left side at the very bottom of this joint, paint the size of a match head has already fallen off. “A design feature,” the master nodded, “this place was simply created for sand and small pebbles to live there and gnaw the paint down to the metal!” There is only one way out: from new, wash the car almost every day, otherwise dirt or snow sticks to the mudguard, makes it heavy and it begins to imperceptibly shake the bumper, which in turn rubs sand at the joint on the fender. For now I'll spray it with chemicals and paint it with a brush. I haven't received the paint job yet. But I walk around the city and see through one of the tricks with a peeling wing. I also plan to completely polish the body of a friend - I no longer have the strength to look at the countless small scratches that literally burn on the black paint after each wash.

Strengths:

  • An excellent car in terms of consumer qualities and driving habits

Weak sides:

  • Weak paintwork

Review of Ford Focus 1.8 16V (Ford Focus) 2008 Part 2

Hello everyone, 1.5 years have already passed since I sold my Ford Focus 2 and switched to the 2nd generation Kia Sid.

What can I say, I don’t remember Ford clearly. I’ll say that I’m glad to change Ford, and I won’t take it (any more).

The only pleasant thing I can remember is the 1.8 engine, which runs a little, the appearance is nothing so nice, the noise (I had an additional one) there’s nothing else I can remember.

Review of Ford 1.8 TDCi 115 hp, 5-speed manual transmission (Ford Focus) 2008 Part 4

Good afternoon

I decided to write a short review about what has happened over the past two years and plans for the future.

We will be 7 years old in June. The odometer shows 117,180 km. Over the entire period of time, almost 495 thousand rubles were spent (evaporated) on maintenance and service. Of these, parking is 60 thousand rubles, insurance/taxes are 68 thousand rubles, fuel itself is 166 thousand rubles. (fuel consumed 6,589 liters). The rest is maintenance, spare parts, repairs, consumables and additional equipment (forged wheels, winter tires, DRLs, PCM firmware, EGR muffling).

Review of Ford Focus 1.4 16V (Ford Focus) 2010

I got this car thanks to our Vladimir’s recycling program. They stimulated well then. Actually, I thought, well, let’s take a spotty car for a couple of years, and my wife wants a foreign car;) We took it, the wife chose the color, it’s more noticeable on the road - therefore safer. Well, it looks clear (when washed).

The first driving sensations, as far as I remember, were WOW (this is after the VAZ). Excellent handling and tenacious brakes, small pedal strokes, rocker panels, informative steering wheel - a delight. It feels like he can do whatever you want on the road, depending only on your reaction and the horses under the hood. There weren’t enough horses, of course - 80. But in principle, it was enough for my driving style; on the track you get a little nervous when overtaking a long vehicle, but that’s normal. The configuration is the simplest, with twists. But for me it’s better than a stuffed basin. An acquaintance took the fourteenth in the latest configuration, I don’t remember exactly, probably 100 thousand less than mine. I ask, what’s not a Ford or some other foreign car? He says that he does not have money to service foreign cars. I don’t think there’s any point in saying who did more digging around in the yard and garage and who spent more. Because The Ford had a warranty of 2 years or 100,000 km. Having successfully survived a year of operation, I decided to forget about maintenance at the dealer and changed the consumables myself. By that time, I had heard a lot about maneuvers at the dealer, how they “work” there - yeah.

Once, while reversing in a parking lot (it’s so hard to see), my front left wheel hit an open hatch (it’s on Bogatyrskoye, opposite the OK, there’s a center for various spare parts, I think it’s still open), but not all of the wheel went away, I braked in time , and about 6 cm remained to the bottom. And here I am, using the handbrake, turning the steering wheel all the way, engaging 2nd gear and accelerating - I surprised both myself and the horse. Then somehow at low speed I drove into a high pavement (distracted). Pah-pah, it seems like nothing. In appearance, the ground clearance seems so small, but in reality I felt more confident on it in such hoods than on the 99th, I almost didn’t shuffle, except with the mudguards. This apparently depends on the design of the car itself; everything is very well thought out - both outside and inside. Now I don’t remember what surprised me and when, but the fact that such a feeling remained is a fact. This is what the big history of the automaker means - with each series they redo even the smallest mistakes, and in the end they turn out to be a legend, like a new Explorer :))

Strengths:

  • Good unpretentious car

Review of Ford Focus 1.8TDCi (115hp/1.8l/5 manual transmission) (Ford Focus) 2010

Thanks to all those who leave reviews here, I’ve been reading this resource for about 5 years now, it helped me a lot with choosing a car. Also, huge respect to the people who subscribe to the FFCLUB specialized forum :-) This often helps a lot to save money when diagnosing and repair, so that you are not scammed into repairing or replacing something that in reality later turns out to be serviceable; it has long been a known fact about the selection of replacements for the original!

After the sale of the 9th Lancer in 2010, the question of purchasing a new one was not raised, because there were stupidly other needs. Was under investigation (organized criminal group). That’s why the red penny (013) from 1980 came to the rescue. There were no complaints about its reliability at all! I've driven about 40,000 miles on it so far. Of the breakdowns, only the ball filter (due to ignorance) and due to inexperience, the air filter got wet due to rain, because I did not know that in wet weather the air intake should be turned to the air intake from the engine side. But I must say that this penny has an original mileage of about 150 thousand and the paint is still original. It’s still standing in another garage, I rarely use it, I don’t even take out maintenance or insurance, it’s easier to “solve it on the spot” everything.

But more favorable times came and I began to think about something more comfortable. For some reason, I no longer looked towards the Japanese. And the domestic auto industry... I already have it, it makes sense to take it again, it’s only more expensive, although comfort has increased there over 40 years, it’s an abyss even compared to old foreign cars.. I love it when a car looks pleasing to the eye, even if it has to be repaired more often. I read a lot of reviews about the Merc 124, BMW 39, Audi 45, C5.80V4, Passat B5+, Peugeot 407. Only diesel was considered. But alas, nothing was possible to find them alive in Volgograd, and the price tags were outrageous, and many at that time were from the Republic of Belarus and Moscow. After reading the reviews (I was especially impressed by this one, Max333 http://www.avtomarket.ru/opinions/Mercedes/E-class/19485/) about the owners’ investments, I decided: “well, what the heck?” this rarity, the car is needed every day, mileage I have big ones. And then, purely by chance, a friend of mine offers me a second-hand purchase, knowing that I want a diesel, Ford Focus 2. It was a restyling from 2010. With a running mileage of 31 thousand km. In appearance, the car is in new condition. I, of course, knew at that time that “a good diesel is a new diesel”; the price tags for repairs were also approximately known to me. Without thinking for a long time, I took it.

Strengths:

  • Reliability (who would have thought)
  • Security (I didn't expect it)
  • Appearance (though not in all trim levels)
  • Inability to drive away (due to diesel)
  • The traffic police are not interested (until you severely violate it)
  • Adaptation of the 1.8 TDCI (KKDA) diesel engine to our realities
  • Study of the design by servicemen, absence of childhood diseases on the restyle
  • I haven't had any problems with winter starts.

Weak sides:

  • Even schoolchildren know about saving on Ford matches
  • Only the really lazy people didn’t write about the noise in the cabin (and it’s not a matter of sound insulation)
  • Maintainability: the manufacturer’s desire to replace entire units, even if a cheap part has worn out
  • A lot of things, even in consumables, are made so that you even have to go to the OD to replace the air filter
  • Ground clearance is one of the lowest in the class, it will be difficult for rural areas

Hello everyone!

At the moment, we have reached the 60 mark with the machine. And now we already have the first jambs. No, no, not breakdowns, but just such unpleasant, but not global problems! However, I spent almost nothing financially on eliminating them, and this is a very important indicator. And so first things first...

About 50k. I saw Jackie Chan for the first time. It came on without any external reason when I was driving along the highway evenly and at the speed limit. And after the fire, there were no changes in the behavior of the car. I drove another 500 km with it before I got to the service center. As a result, error P0420 was diagnosed, which indicates low catalyst efficiency. The error was cleared, and I hoped that I had grabbed bad gasoline. But after 1000 km the check appeared again, and then two more times with an interval of 300 km. Verdict - Katalik is dead! I started thinking about removing the neutralizer. But the car drives and starts well, the mileage is low, which means the cat is not clogged. My guesses were confirmed by a diagnostician who said that the flow in the exhaust system was excellent. And on the forum, people who deleted the cat basically said that it was clean, which means it simply loses its effectiveness. In general, I bought it for 20 rubles. resistance and condenser and installed an electronic snag in the circuit of the second lambda probe so that the Jackie Chan would not light up again. Fortunately, this sensor does not participate in mixture formation, but only monitors the condition of the neutralizer. Result: the car drives well, the error still does not come on, the consumption has not changed (highway - 6.5; city - 8; in winter we add 0.5 liters).

Strengths:

  • Reliability
  • Appearance is still pleasing to the eye
  • Comfortable seats - I don’t get tired on long journeys
  • Fuel consumption

Weak sides:

  • Ground clearance, although overall rowing is excellent
  • Catalytic converter (possibly due to our gasoline)
  • Unreliable design of the fifth door lining

Review of Ford Focus 1.6 16V (Ford Focus) 2009 Part 3

Review of Ford Focus 1.6 16V (Ford Focus) 2009

I took the car in 2009, the company helped, I actually wanted to buy a Mazda 3, I had already looked at it and chose the color, when I bought it they started to make mistakes, I didn’t have enough for the Mazda 120 thousand, although the preliminary agreement had already been drawn up and I was included in the title, but then They hung up all sorts of CASCO insurance, then the bank immediately handed over significant interest rates, in short, they sent them to hell. The manager and director began to threaten that the contract had been drawn up and the penalty was approximately 50 thousand!!! Without leaving them, in short, I won’t name the place and the retail outlet, I also threatened with the prosecutor’s office and the law on consumer protection, the local boys were with me, in short, they amicably agreed and took the Ford at a discount for about 620 thousand, having previously pulled out from the mouth of the Mazda PTS manager.

The car didn’t cause any trouble, we drove it a little, the handling is good, the suspension is for our roads, the engine is certainly not a hurricane, but for 1.6 liters it’s quite nimble and eats moderately. SONY's music is cool, the car's equipment is not rich, although I was immediately given partronics, a GARANT, and a signaling system, carpets, by the way, on the Mazda - these were all a separate option and there was no music at all except for the radio. And I didn’t regret that I took a Ford, everything was cheaper - consumables, tires, and repairs.

But the possession was short-lived; on Lermontovsky Prospekt I was picked up by a DAF truck tractor with 54 regions on board, and a sleep-deprived long-haul truck with a black face. When changing lanes to the far right lane, he simply didn’t see me, and I was about to turn right and take the far right lane in advance. The guys quickly arrived, they thought it was crazy, I got out, I thought the DAF had left, but he was resting about 150 meters away with an emergency light. He did not deny guilt, they drew up a scheme and analyzed it for the post. There, as always, they gave him a warning and let me go; in exchange for expensive cognac, I received a certificate of an accident for the insurance company. By the way, that driver had more than his first accident that month, at least he was fined for good measure.

Strengths:

  • Easy to maintain
  • Inexpensive
  • Good ride quality

Weak sides:

  • Little space in the cabin
  • Modest trunk
  • Poor equipment
  • Poor protection for passengers and especially children

Review of Ford Focus Wagon 2.0 16V (Ford Focus) 2010 Part 3

Three years have passed since I owned this car. Time flies by, it seems like I bought it yesterday, and then bam and the steward has already reeled it in. It's time to change your car to something new. Life sets its own priorities, and at the same time, completely different tasks are set for the new iron friend. Although the old horse does not spoil the furrows, it can no longer cope with new tasks. Therefore, the old friend Ford will be replaced by a new friend from the SUV class, but that’s another story, about it a little later.

Now I’ll tell you a little about my friend Ford Focus 2 station wagon. During my ownership, this car never let me down, it always started and drove no matter what. The car was serviced by the OD, and an extended warranty (300 euros) was purchased from the OD, the conditions were 100 thousand or 4 years, whichever comes first. I bought a warranty because, frankly, I was afraid for the car, since it is a Russian-assembled Ford Focus. As time has shown, I was very mistaken; in terms of reliability, the car will give odds to many Japanese and Korean manufacturers. I say this with confidence, since I have previously owned both Japanese and Korean cars, and I still own Korean cars. In short, the guarantee did not justify itself.

During the entire period of operation, two joints came out. The first is the wheel bearing. As soon as I sat behind the car again, I noticed a small howl on the right side, I turned to the dealers, they pulled it, looked and said that everything was fine. So I drove 60k, after which the howling intensified and I presented it to the dealer again. The dealer replaced it without any problems, but everyone was very surprised by such an early replacement, since apart from acoustic discomfort everything was normal. The mechanic broke it into balls and found that one ball had a roughness the size of half a match head, and it was this roughness that caused acoustic discomfort. The second problem is related to the notorious Russian localization of production. A year ago, when changing wheels from summer to winter, I noticed that the left inner CV joint was covered in oil. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the elastic had burst at the seam. The dealer changed it without sound, citing a defect in the manufacturer of this rubber band. That's all there was of breakdowns for 100k.

Review of Ford 1.8 TDCi 115 hp, 5-speed manual transmission (Ford Focus) 2008 Part 3

Good afternoon, dear forum users.

Another 25 thousand kilometers flew by on the diesel Focus. Soon to be 5 years old, birthday – June 6, 2008.

A short report from the numbers: over 97,245 km, 5,482 liters of fuel were consumed for the amount of 124 thousand rubles. (127.8 thousand including additives - anti-gels, lubricants), average consumption 5.64 l/100 km.

Review of Ford Focus 1.8 16V (Ford Focus) 2008

A few words about the car. The car was chosen only from the Spanish assembly, Vsevolozhskaya is immediately visible, I hope it will serve me faithfully for a couple of years. Externally, the car is inconspicuous, there are many of them now, no one will turn around to look. The interior decoration is normal, there is soft plastic in the dashboard, there is also hard plastic, nothing rattles, everything is fine, inside there is something between the cosmic design of the Koreans and the strict design of the Germans, in general there are no complaints about the interior decoration. I consider this car to be a good, inexpensive mid-range car, which has a lot of features from its older colleagues, but at the same time maintains an affordable price tag. I can't say anything about reliability as I haven't driven it much yet.

What I liked. I liked the engine, it drives cheerfully, playfully, smoothly, I won’t be a vegetable on the highway or in the city, but I won’t be able to leave everyone behind either, and there’s no such goal. I was pleased with the brakes, they grab well and immediately, despite the fact that there are drums at the rear. I liked the sound insulation, it is better than in Lachik, there is less noise, more comfort, the speed begins to be felt only after 120. I liked the suspension, it is harsh, but tolerable, I like the sound of the holes, quiet elastic tun-tun, holds the road better. It accelerates to 170 without strain and holds the road, there is no point in accelerating further, it is noisy and uncomfortable, the steering wheel begins to “lose” the car. Comfortable speed 120-130. I liked the 5-level heated seats, you can set the level you need, and not fry your butt like with heated seats with 2 options on. and off I liked the electric heating of the windshield, now I don’t have to crawl with a scraper, I just sat, waited, brushed off the thawed ice with the wipers and drove off. I finally understand how ESP works; it will help you turn on a slippery road, but you shouldn’t completely trust it with your life. I liked the standard Sony radio, it plays pleasantly, melodiously, bassy and pleasing to the ear, the difference is not even with the standard radio from Lachika immediately noticeable. I liked the retractable armrest, you can comfortably position your hand and change gears. I liked the additions such as a rain sensor, light sensor and cruise control, the systems work and make me happy. After the firmware, such pleasant little things appeared as auto-closing doors when driving, outputting information from the radio to the on-board computer. Now it is possible to monitor changes in (relative) tire pressure using sensors, and I have finally removed the stupid automatic activation of windshield and rear auto-heating when starting the engine. The presence of all sorts of functions such as turning on the backlight when opening the door, stopping the engine, a cooled glove box, parking lights, and a self-dimming rearview mirror pleasantly complement the picture of this car.

I also complained about a knocking sound in the steering; when I turn the steering wheel about 30 degrees to the left, a knocking sound occurs when driving over bumps. The master said that the rack was knocking (to be honest, this is the first time I’ve heard such reasoning from the employees of the dealership with my own eyes, so to speak, usually they don’t admit to such things under torture). As I understand it, they tightened the rack (unfortunately, they did not give feedback); during further operation, no knocks were detected in the rack. By and large, I no longer had any complaints about malfunctions. The maintenance lasted about 3 hours. I don’t understand what could have been done on this topic for such a long time :) After passing the MOT, all complaints about the car disappeared, the knocking went away (perhaps they stretched both the rack and the chassis) and squeaks. Now I'm going and enjoying it :)

In this review, I would like to pay increased attention to such an issue as the geometric cross-country ability of the car and, in general, the cross-country ability on snow-covered (heavily snow-covered) roads. Let me remind you that my car is equipped with an automatic transmission, i.e. in fact, the ability to operate a car in off-road (light off-road) conditions is severely limited by this point. Or perhaps I was influenced by the general opinion on this issue. But as my personal experience of driving on heavily snowy roads in a car equipped with an automatic transmission has shown, there was no need to be afraid. The Ford Focus turned out to be surprisingly passable, of course WITHOUT fanaticism, it is far from a jeep or even an SUV. I have expensive studded tires and when driving in bad road conditions I use the manual mode of the automatic transmission. With a competent approach and a competent assessment of the road situation, I drive almost everywhere (within reason) where rear-wheel drive manual cars don’t even go, and few front-wheel drive cars also go. Ford has a very small mass (1400-1500 kg depending on equipment and load) and rushes like a tank through all the snow and ice. But if you overestimate your strength, or miscalculate the situation, or stop, it’s a mess :) It will take a long time to dig out. But the crux of the matter is that I did not expect such vigorous cross-country ability from this car with an automatic transmission...

Ford Focus II was produced from 2004 to 2011, and in 2008 it underwent restyling. In our market, 5-door hatchbacks and sedans were especially popular. There are noticeably fewer three-doors and station wagons. But you'll have to look for a stylish one - there are only a few of them on the market.

Body sores

The metal is strong and does not rust. But the paintwork let us down. Faded paint, tarnished bumpers, partially sandblasted sills and darkened decorative parts on well-worn cars are, rather, signs of natural aging rather than barbaric use.

The license plate light contacts are short-lived. And in winter, due to moisture, the touch buttons of the luggage compartment lock freeze. In order for it to open on demand, you need to apply lubricant to the inner surface of the Ford emblem covering the lock cylinder. Better yet, replace the standard plastic lock (RUB 3,800) with a metal one from Mondeo. Please note that failure of the central locking blocks not only the doors, but also the gas tank flap. On sedans, the wiring harness that supplies power to the lights on the trunk lid often breaks. Repairs will cost 2,400 rubles.

Wide engine range

As for us, the Focus was sold with gasoline “fours” of 1.4 liters (80 hp), 1.6 liters (100 and 115 hp), 1.8 liters (125 hp). ) and 2 l (145 hp). Dealers brought to order versions with a 1.8-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 115 horsepower. The most reliable of them is considered to be a simple-designed 100-horsepower engine produced in South Africa. The main thing is not to forget to change the timing belt every 80,000 km (RUB 1,900). However, this engine is rather weak for the Focus, especially when paired with an automatic transmission. But its 115-horsepower brother, equipped with a variable valve timing system on the intake and exhaust shafts, has enough engine thrust in all modes. True, phase reversal couplings (there are two of them, 15,000 rubles each) are not durable.

The 1.8 and 2 liter fours are optimal for the Ford Focus, but they are not without problems. noticed increased oil consumption. If the engine “drives” lubricant, it is better to abandon the car. The fact is that . The replacement is a cylinder block with all the “gibles”, the so-called “short block”. But the timing drive uses a long-lasting chain, the replacement of which will be required after 200,000 km. After 100,000 km, the valve cover gasket usually begins to leak oil (1,800 rubles). By this time, as a rule, the upper hydraulic engine mount wears out (4,800 rubles).

The 1.8-liter turbodiesel is reliable. But subject to regular service, it is recommended to carry out maintenance every 5,000–10,000 km. Then it can withstand up to 300,000 km. And from a diesel surrogate, the fuel injection pump is unlikely to last more than 100,000. Repair or replacement - from 35,000 to 65,000 rubles. After 100,000 km you will have to spend money on new injection nozzles (16,500 rubles each).

Two "A's" in one lesson...

The Focus II with 1.4 liter, 1.6 liter and 1.8 liter petrol engines was equipped with the IB5 series, which did not have a safety margin. When working under high loads, the pinion axis in the differential often broke, which led to a hole in the crankcase and repairs costing 100,000 rubles. If “howls” are heard in the box, the input shaft bearing is to blame. You can’t delay replacing it - the consequences can be costly.

But the other gearbox - MTX75, coupled with a 2-liter engine - is more reliable. True, over time, oil seals and gear shift rod seals leak. But these are minor things. The main thing is to monitor the level of the “transmission”. Otherwise, oil starvation will lead to rapid wear of the shaft and gear rims. And further. The 2-liter gasoline engine (and 1.8-liter turbodiesel) is equipped with a dual-mass flywheel, which wears out after 100,000 km. If you feel jerking when starting off and a characteristic rattling sound, do not delay replacing it. The part is expensive - from 33,000 rubles, but the consequences of the destruction caused by a failed flywheel will be even more serious.

But it is quite reliable, although simple in design. After 150,000 km, the valve body (RUB 45,000) and the pressure regulator solenoids fail. To extend the life of the box, service technicians recommend changing the oil every 60,000 km.

In the clutch mechanism, the release bearing, made in a single block with the working cylinder, is rather weak. After 50,000 km, it usually loses its functionality.

The chassis is strong, but there are some nuances...

The fully independent suspension with MacPherson struts and rear multi-link is quite strong. Most of its elements are long-lived. But there are weaknesses here too. These are support bearings for struts that last an average of 40,000-70,000 km. Wheel bearings, which are replaced as an assembly with hubs for 17,500 rubles, can withstand approximately the same amount. When replacing, you need to be more careful - the ABS sensors built into the hub are often damaged during removal. Light knocks in the suspension after 30,000-50,000 km will make themselves felt by the stabilizer struts. But the bushings can withstand twice as much. At the same time, at 80,000-100,000 km, the turn will come to update the ball joints assembled with a lever and silent blocks (5,800 rubles each). And then shock absorbers are on the way (6,500 rubles each).

5 minutes to read.

The main task that the developers of Ford Focus 2 set for themselves was to increase driving safety and comfort. They coped with the task brilliantly. For the first time, anyone could see the Focus 2 concept car in Beijing in April 2004. Already in the early autumn of the same year, a production version of the car was presented at the Paris auto show. This generation of Ford Focus was intended for sales exclusively in European countries. In the USA, the characteristics of the first model were redesigned, updated, and the model went on sale under the name Focus 2. Serial production of the Ford Focus 2 in Germany began in October, and already in October 2005 in the Russian Federation at the Vsevolzhsk plant. The car was produced at factories in Germany, Russia, Spain, China and South Africa.

Focus 2 is assembled on the C 1 platform, having the same technical characteristics as Mazda 3 and Volvo S 40 / V 50 / C 70 and Ford Focus C-Max. The Ford company participates in the Global Shared Technologies program. The buyer was offered four body types: hatchback 3 and hatchback 5 doors, station wagon, sedan. In 2008, the Ford Focus 2 was restyled. The car acquired a more dynamic appearance and swift contours. The basis of the restyling was the concept (Kinetic Design) of kinetic design, the so-called “energy in motion.” The technical characteristics of the power unit have not changed. Almost all body parts were changed except the roof and interior.

Changes:

1. The design of the seats and upholstery material have changed, and more clearly defined lateral support for the passenger has appeared. If desired, you can equip the car with heated and electrically adjustable seats for precise adjustment of the seat position.

2. Optional bi-xenon headlights. They consume 1/3 less energy and the brightness is twice as high as halogen ones, as well as an increased angle of illumination of the road.

3. Optional adaptive lighting system. The technical functions of the system are to change the direction of the headlights depending on the speed or turn of the steering wheel, i.e. when turning, the light beam is always directed towards the road and not towards the side of the road.

4. LED taillights. They emit brighter light and light up faster. Usually installed together with bi-xenon headlights.

5. New functionality and additional equipment:

  • Easy Fuel - a new design of the fuel tank filler neck when there is no cap, and a special lock distinguishes gasoline and diesel filling nozzles;
  • a new stereo radio from Sony with the optional ability to connect media via USB for playing MP 3 files and connecting a smartphone via Bluetooth®;
  • 230 V socket in the cabin, which makes it possible to recharge all kinds of gadgets;
  • optional low tire pressure warning system (DDS) with dashboard sensor.

6. The instrument panel has acquired more ergonomic characteristics. The entire torpedo was initially made of high-quality plastic that does not emit toxic substances. After restyling, the plastic became softer. The center console has become available in two versions, now the functional areas are highlighted in two types of finishes: steel or wood. The tachometer and speedometer have anti-glare visors. Fuel and temperature gauges and the central screen are combined into one unit. The instrument panel is illuminated in red.

7. New steering wheel. The material has changed and instead of four knitting needles there are three. If desired, you can install a radio remote control on the steering wheel.

8. The design of the rear bumper has changed. Restyling visually expands the appearance of the rear of the car.

9. The visual characteristics of the hood have changed; it has become embossed.

10. Added a new shaped spoiler to the Special Edition package.

11. Rear view mirrors have changed shape. Optionally, you can install electric closing mirrors.

12. Clear lines ran along the entire length of the car body, designed to emphasize the swiftness and introduce an element of sporty appearance.

13. Possibility to install wheels up to 18 inches.

The safety characteristics of the Ford Focus 2 are also at the highest level. According to Euro NCAP ratings, the car is the best in its class (“C”). Ratings for driver and passenger safety are 5 out of 5 possible, child safety – 4, pedestrian safety – 1.5. The score for frontal collision is also the highest. This is largely thanks to the Intelligent Security System (IPS).

Other Ford Focus 2 models

Focus ST (Sport Technology) only 3-door hatchback with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 225 hp. With. - Duratec-ST 5-cylinder turbo.

The convertible was first shown to the public in Geneva at the International Exhibition in February 2006. Focus Coupe - Cabriolet is equipped with a metal, two-section roof from Pininfarina, which is retracted into the trunk using an electric drive. The car is equipped with additional safety features and has a body of increased rigidity. The model is not very popular due to its high cost. It was also modernized in 2008.
